Overview

QoS offers the ability to provide different levels of treatment to specific classes of traffic. Before any QoS application or mechanisms can be applied, traffic must be identified and grouped into classes. QoS is then applied to these traffic classes.

Network devices use classification to identify traffic as belongin to a specific class.
