Given n, how many structurally unique BST‘s (binary search trees) that store values 1...n?
For example,
Given n = 3, there are a total of 5 unique BST‘s.
1 3 3 2 1 \ / / / \ 3 2 1 1 3 2 / / \ 2 1 2 3
Key to the problem here is to separate this problem into two smaller problems, unique BST‘s number of right child tree and left child tree.
The pseudocode is like:
for (int i = 1; i <= n; i++) {
result = result + nums[1 ~ i - 1] + nums[i + 1 ~ n]
}
1 public class Solution { 2 public int numTrees(int n) { 3 int[] dp = new int[n + 1]; 4 dp[0] = 1; 5 for(int j = 1; j <= n; j++) { 6 dp[j] = 0; 7 for(int i = 1; i <= j; i++) 8 dp[j] = dp[i - 1] * dp[j - i] + dp[j]; 9 } 10 return dp[n]; 11 } 12 }
