2.1 The purpose of the Internship
Introduction
In the Pierre and Marie Curie University training program, an internship of at least 6 months is
obligatory for all students. It is designed as an actual immersion process in business.

part, the missions I have worked out will be explained. Finally, I will exposed the
contributions of the internship.
1. Company Introduction
1.1 The Aviation Industry Corporation
Overview
The Aviation Industry Corporation of China, Ltd. (AVIC) was founded on November 6th, 2008 through the restructuring and consolidation of the China Aviation Industry Corporation Ⅰ (AVIC Ⅰ) and the China Aviation Industry Corporation Ⅱ (AVIC Ⅱ). It is centered on aviation and provide complete services to customers in many sectors— from research and development to operation, manufacturing and financing. It’s business units cover defense, transport aircrafts, helicopters, avionics and systems, general aviation, research and development, flight testing, trade and logistics, assets management, finance services, engineering and construction, automobiles and more. It has over 100 subsidiaries, nearly 27 listed companies and more than 450,000 employees.

AVIC commits itself to commercial transportation industry, cooperating with the global partners and actively participating in the development of international programs.
AVIC have built strong productivities and core competencies in manufacturing and high-tech industries. They integrate aviation science and technology into automobile, motorcycle, components and spare parts and develop products and technologies such as refrigeration equipment, electrical devices, environment protection equipment and new energy technologies. Besides the aviation business, electronic products like LCD, circuit boards, new energy products like lithium battery and wind energy and auto parts are reputed as high quality and lead the industry in terms of technology and scale of economy.
AVIC provides various services including aircraft leasing, general aviation, transportation, medical services, planning and construction and etc. They have developed global competitiveness and expertise in civil engineering projects such as the airport construction, cement factory design and construction, power plant construction, rail transportation, highway bridges, vocational education, mobile hospital, garbage incineration power generating, etc. Several EPC or BOT projects have been successfully carried out in Asia, Africa and South America.
AVIC is developing into a global company with diversified businesses and in a localized operation.
Research & Development
As one of China’s scientific development leaders, AVIC has developed full industry chain capabilities for the development of aircraft, aero engines and airborne equipment. They are able to provide support and innovate independently. Their broad achievements in aerodynamics, structural strength, materials, manufacturing, flight tests, standardization, measurement and informatization have been applied widely in aviation and other industries. They continue to provide technological breakthroughs, research products and services to China and the world.
Focusing on R&D is the basis for AVIC’s success. Their scientific research system involves the Chinese Aeronautical Establishment (CAE) and 33 research institutes. They also own 9 key national labs, 24 nationally accredited enterprise technology centers and 32 province/ministry level enterprise centers. They have world-leading large-scale research and test facilities.
Research
talents are their valuable assets. AVIC has a large body of
well-known academicians, chief designers and engineering experts,
among which 26% are professional technicians, and 6,000 are senior
researchers; 58% of employees are at the middle/senior level.
They encourage innovation. They have competitive independent intellectual property rights for many key products and technologies. AVIC has won 22 national scientific prizes, including one Grand National Prize for Progress in Science and Technology. They are increasing the number of patent applications by 20-30% annually, and they have applied for 30,000 patents in total.

1.3.1 Smart City
A smart city is an urban area that uses different types of electronic data collection sensors to supply information which is used to manage assets and resources efficiently. This includes data collected from citizens, devices, and assets that is processed and analyzed to monitor and manage traffic and transportation systems, power plants, water supply networks, waste management, law enforcement, information systems, schools, libraries, hospitals, and other community services. The smart city concept integrates information and communication technology (ICT), and various physical devices connected to the network to optimize the efficiency of city operations and services and connect to citizens. Smart city technology allows city officials to interact directly with both community and city infrastructure and to monitor what is happening in the city and how the city is evolving.

In our company, smart city business includes smart government, smart security monitoring, and smart environmental protection.
1.3.2 intelligent technology
China set out a plan to step up its manufacturing sector, dubbed Made in China 2025. Intelligent technology is the key to a strong manufacturing industry. Intelligent manufacturing is based on internet of things, cloud computing, and big data. These technologies will be involved in every aspect of the manufacturing process, to realise machine optimised decisions.
We plan to build four parameters in the future, to realise information sharing and communication between people and things, and between people and people. For example, the auto industry has made unmanned vehicles as a goal to achieve before 2020. We will also build a foundation for internet of things, and solve problems in broadband speed, bandwidth and fees.
China plans to upgrade level of intelligence in key manufacturing sectors by 2020, meanwhile cut costs by 30 percent in pilot projects. Till 2025 key sectors will become fully intelligent, and manufacturing costs will go down by a half.
In our company, intelligent technology includes TIANMAI embedded computing platform, Rail transportation business, Measurement and Simulation business.

2.1 The purpose of the Internship
The market demand for greater vehicle performance, coupled with the increased regulatory requirements on emission level and fuel economy have caused increasing performance of engine which is regarded as heart of vehicle. The trend makes researching and improving performance of engine more and more important.

2.2 The work environment
2.2.1 Autodesk Maya
Autodesk Maya, commonly shortened to Maya, is an application used to generate 3D assets for use in film, television, game development and architecture. The software was initially released for the IRIX operating system.
Users define a virtual workspace (scene) to implement and edit media of a particular project. Scenes can be saved in a variety of formats, the default being .mb (Maya D). Maya exposes a node graph architecture. Scene elements are node-based, each node having its own attributes and customization. As a result, the visual representation of a scene is based entirely on a network of interconnecting nodes, depending on each other‘s information. For the convenience of viewing these networks, there is a dependency and a directed acyclic graph.
