both指两个人、物或群体，all指三个以上的人、物或群体或泛指一切事物。

1、作主语
Simon and Duke are my classmates. Both are good swimmers.
Ann was expecting her roommates. All were there except Ted.

both和all可后接 of + the + 名词或人称代词宾格特指“两个”或“全部”。例如：
Both (of) the girls/them were active in class.
All (of) the farmers/them are richer than before.
其中of可以省去。

2、同位语
They both won prizes in the maths contest.
They were both prize winners in the maths contest.

They all joined the shooting club.
They were all members of the shooting club.

注意作宾语同位语时的位置。例如：
He took a photo of them both.
She sent postcards of Paris to us all.

3、宾语
These two skirts are pretty. I’ll take both.
It is hard to please all.
