今天某导师联系我说:"There will be an allhand"

搞不懂allhand是啥意思……他口头跟我解释的是就是个茶话会性质的小会~

我在网上查了一下，这个用法很少见……

一个可能的解释如下： 

hands可以用来表示水手，比如有个用法就是"All hands abandon ship!"

hands也可以用来表示农场中的奴隶或工人（hired laborer on a farm or ranch，also called farmhand）。

总的来说hands用来表示用双手工作的工人。

所以all hands meeting大概就是指工人层次的开会吧，如果是大老板这么说，应该有点自嘲的性质，或者表示这个会议比较轻松，是劳动人民的会议~

另一种解释：

all hands这个词组表示：

1、一艘船上的所有水手

2、一群志同道合、有着共同追求的人

所以all hands meeting……就是全体会议……
